THE AIMS OF THORSHOF

Thorshof is a research organisation which encourages research on the religion of the ancient Norse, Anglo-Saxon and Germanic peoples. Its aims are as follows:

1. To reconstruct the religious myths of the Teutonic peoples (Norse/German/English). This is no simple task because all our written records of the myths were produced after the conversion to Christianity. They have been influenced by Classical and Christian sources.

2. To research the religious beliefs of the Teutonic pagan community.

3. To research the layout of Teutonic pagan shrines & temples, and to build a reconstruction of a small Icelandic temple.

4. To improve understanding of the cults of Thor, Freyr and the Teutonic goddesses.

5. To teach traditional arts and crafts and keep them alive.

4. To encourage and assist with the learning of Anglo-Saxon and Norse to improve the standards of research, and to assist less capable members with translation.

5. To provide information for Asatru organisations (groups promoting the revival of the Teutonic pagan tradition as a valid modern faith).
