Bilskirnir is the name Thor's hall in Asgard. He has numerous children in the myths including Magni, Modi and Thrud. Norse poetry shows Thor as a loving father who dotes on Magni and one of the kennings for his name is 'one who is longing for Thrud in his heart'.
The stars of Ursa Major are connected to Thor under their Scadinavian name 'Karl's Wain', Karl being a nickname for Thor in folklore. Thor has strong links with Earth, being both Earth's defender and son. The Germanic peoples honoured the Earth as a goddess. Her Norse name is Jord.
