SAGA From the 'Gods of England' Series - Thorskegga Thorn

Thorskegga has started a series of paintings depicting the gods worshipped by the Anglo-Saxon and Norse settlers in England. Black and white versions of these pictures have been used for the covers of Thunder and the Wain.

The goddess Saga is one of the Norse goddesses of wisdom and divination and may be an aspect of Frigg, although Icelandic sources list them as seperate goddesses. Saga has here own hall among the marshes where she is visited by Odin and drinks with him out of gold cups. The nine gold rings are a reference to Odin's ring Draupnir.
