Thorskegga has started a series of paintings depicting the gods worshipped by the Anglo-Saxon and Norse settlers in England. The mucky brown colour is gold on the original but our scanner can't cope with it. Black and white versions of these pictures have been used for the covers of Thunder and the Wain.
For an explanation of the symbolism, the hammer and goats should be obvious, if not try The Deep Souled One, Thor's fiery halo is a common motif from late medieval illustrations of the god, the firesteel is a Anglo-Saxon symbol of Thor as the god of fire as is the swastika, the star Aurvandil is explained in Thunder issue 5. The plant between the goats is the houseleek which is grown on buildings to protect from lightning.Thunder 7
